A level of common sense prevails...

Legislation has now been approved by parliament, and my Sports Therapy governing body (FHT) has now been advised, that during this current national lockdown (beginning January 5th 2021), Sports Therapy services may be provided but, "only to support clients who have a genuine health condition/medical need that requires urgent treatment and cannot be deferred. This might include, for example, clients who have an injury or health condition that is currently causing them severe pain or mobility issues, or is severely impacting their quality of life."

BST SPORTS THERAPY services will therefore continue to be available within the parameters laid out by the government, from my BS6 clinic

I will continue to operate adhering to strict Covid-19 hygiene protocols and clinical treatment procedures.

While I am delighted to be able to continue to support you in person, it is only natural that you might have one or two concerns about close contact with someone from outside your household.

I can assure you that your health and safety is my absolute priority.

In order to re-assure you, below are some of the measures I have in place in my personal practice to help protect your health and wellbeing at this time:

  • I am following guidelines issued by the government, NHS, Public Health England and my professional association, the Federation of Holistic Therapists, regarding safe and hygienic practice and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • I have carried out a full risk assessment of my therapy business to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus (COVID-19).

  • I have completed a certified infection control course (Control of Cross-infection in a Post-COVID-19 World) and introduced enhanced cleaning and hygiene procedures to my practice.

  • I continue to closely monitor my own health, and that of my clients, to ensure neither party is put at risk of contracting COVID-19.

  • In order to determine the necessity of a treatment at this time, it is politely requested that clients offer some background information regarding the complaint or injury that is being suffered. In this way, I am able to assess clients' needs on a case by case basis prior to making a booking.

ADAPTING or RESTRICTED TREATMENTS

At this time, it may be necessary for me to adapt or restrict certain treatments in order for me to reduce the risk of the spread of Covid-19, and/or protect my clients' health and safety. Any clients likely to be impacted by this, will be advised as soon as possible.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

Please note that, although most treatments involve close contact, I will be observing social distancing measures wherever possible. This might include for example, maintaining an appropriate distance during the consultation process, and when arriving and leaving for an appointment.

TREATMENT TIMES

It is advised that,

"Businesses should consider providing shorter, more basic treatments to keep the time to a minimum".

In line with this guidance, treatments might be shorter, where possible, and will not to exceed one hour (total appointment time).

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?

  • Please inform me and do not attend an appointment if you have a high temperature or are experiencing any common Covid-19 symptoms, or if you have knowingly been in contact with anyone who is either experiencing these symptoms, or has tested positive for Coronavirus in the past 14 days.

  • Please do not attend an appointment if you have travelled to the UK from abroad within the past 14 days

  • Please arrive at the agreed time and observe social distancing before and after the treatment.

  • Please wear a face covering for the duration of your appointment. This includes arriving at and leaving the premises, but excludes any time that you might be required to lie face down during the appointment. Face coverings may be removed during prone treatment.

  • Please wash your hands or use the hand sanitiser available on site before and after treatment.

  • 24HRS prior to you appointment please complete and return the pre-treatment Covid-19 health questionnaire.

  • Please scan the NHS Test and Trace QR code using your mobile App if you have it downloaded, or agree to your name and contact details being shared with the NHS test & Trace (in line with GDPR/data protection).

Please note that if your therapist develops symptoms of COVID-19 and tests positive for the virus, your contact details may be shared with NHS Test and Trace (in line with GDPR/data protection), to help minimise the transmission of COVID-19 and support public health and safety.

If you have any questions or you would like to discuss prior to making an appointment, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

It is very important to me that you feel comfortable resuming treatments, so please feel free to ask me anything, no matter how small.

I look forward to seeing you again soon, but in the meantime, stay safe and well.
